After the meat has browned for a few minutes, remove the meat from the Instant Pot.
Deglaze the pot with beef broth. Deglazing means adding liquid to the pot and scraping the bottom so there are no bits of food stuck to the bottom of the pot.
If food sticks to the bottom, the pot burn warning will activate, causing the pot to turn off.
Therefore, deglaze the pot with beef broth. Remember that marinade was kept around? Add 1 teaspoon of the marinade to the broth.
MEAT MARINADE
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon canola oil
- 1 teaspoon dried minced garlic
- 1 teaspoon dried minced onion
- 1 teaspoon dried parsley
INSTANT POT STEAK AND POTATOES
- 1 lb of cooked meat
- 1 tablespoon canola oil
- 4 small/medium potatoes, peeled and quartered.
- 3 cups of beef broth
- 1 1/2 teaspoons reserved meat marinade
- 3 tablespoons butter divided
- 1/4 cup milk
- 5 teaspoons of flour
- salt and pepper to taste
PREPARATION OF MAKING STEAK AND INSTANT POT POTATOES
1ST STEP
Combine all the ingredients for the marinade. Place the marinade and braised meat in a zip lock bag. Marinate for at least 1 hour but up to 24 hours.

2ND STEP
After the meat has marinated, heat the oil in the Instant Pot on the sauté setting. Brown the meat—Reserve 1 1/2 teaspoons of the marinade.

3RD STEP
While the meat is browning, peel and quarter the potatoes.

4TH STEP
When the meat is browned, remove the meat and deglaze the pot with the meat broth.

5TH STEP
Add reserved marinade to beef broth.

6TH STEP
Place the meat in the liquid, the potatoes in the steamer basket, and place the steamer basket in the liquid.

7TH STEP
Cook on manual high heat for 15 minutes, NPR 10 minutes, then manually release remaining pressure.

8TH STEP
Remove potatoes and mash with 2 tablespoons butter and 1/4 cup milk. Season with salt and pepper.

9TH STEP
Put the Instant Pot on saute and simmer the meat and sauce.

10TH STEP
Create a paste with the remaining butter (1 tablespoon) and the flour.

11TH STEP
When the sauce simmers, melt the butter & flour paste into the sauce to thicken it.

12TH STEP
Season with salt and pepper.

13TH STEP
Serve meat and sauce over mashed potatoes
